I captured this scene early in the morning on the Isle Lewis when only the rabbits were awake – it reminded me of the 19th century Glasgow Boys paintings in terms of composition and style. For me it has a dreamy contemplative quality evocative of simpler times.

As a devotee of ‘art for arts sake’ and the late 19th century ‘aesthetic movement’ I value sensuality and beauty over practical, narrative or moral considerations. Rather than striving to make a point, I aim to give pleasure to the viewer.
I strive for a compositions that stimulates the visual senses. To this end I consider the subject matter, the colours and the composition.
