Kelvingrove huge Art Gallery Organ was built by TC Lewis in 1901. It has 2889 pipes and it is a world record holder.
It is a working organ. Ever day at 1pm you can hear it produce a magnificently rich sound (Sunday at 3pm). Visitors have been treated to over 3000 recitals which is a world record).
What most people don’t know is that the pipes and walnut front of the organ are just for show. The real pipes are out of sight behind the facade.
